Abstract：When studying eventhe most representative bianwen变文（transformation texts） sutra-preachingtexts among theDunhuang manuscripts，it isverydificultoconfirmwhotheauthorsare.There isastorytellng monknamedBao XuaninthetheDunuangmanuscripts，however，whoisremarkableinthathisnameworkshavebeenpreservedtodate，althoughthedetailshispersonalexperienewritingsstillpresentgreatdifcultyforresearchers.Thispapercompreensively summarizes the worksrecords Bao Xuan，colatesa Dunhuang manuscriptThe UpadesaBao XuanbyusingcolorimagesdownloadedfromtheGallca—NationalDigitalLibraryFrance website.Studythese materialshasconcludedthat theDunhuangcopyThe UpadesaBao Xuanis infactheoriginalextthatBaoXuanprepared inordertoattendanimportantreligiousassemblyheldonthe8thdaythesecondlunarmonth，theBuddha'sbirthday.Inaddition，studythetexthas shownthatatthetime，theGeneralMonasticCommerDunuangwasFuGao，thelocalsitu司徒（anficialtitleequal to prime minister）was ZhangChengfeng，theGovernorGuazhouwasLordZhang.Onthisbasis，itcanbeinferedthatthe document was written by Bao Xuan between 902-914.
