Abstract：Guyang Cave is thefirstcave tohave been excavatedamong theLongmen Grotoes，whichmakes research on its contentsparticularlysignificantforunderstandingthehistoryofthesite.Severalcentrall-locatedBuddhiststatuesofaBuddha andtwobodhisatvas inthecavearegenerallybelievedtohavebeencompletedbefore55oCE，althoughtheexactdateof their constructionremainsunclear.Inadition，thereareseveralseriesofnicheschiseledaroundthecentral Buddha：nichesN108， N68，andN6lareontheleftsideofthestatue（northwal），nichesS189，S27，andS1areontherightside（south wal），nd niches D99，W2，andN1areontheceilingabove.Byobservingtherelationshipbetweenthecentralstatuesand thesurrounding niches，itcanbeinferrd thatthe statues in Guyang Cave were carved sometime betweetheJingmingand Zhengshi eras of the Northern Wei dynasty.
