Research on the design and manufacturing technology of thermoplastic composite stiffened panels

Abstract:Thermoplasticcompositesofer advantages including high impactresistance,excellentfatigue resistance,environmentalfriendines,shortformingcycles,andrecyclability,leadingtoteiridespreadapplicationintheaatioindustry.This paper investigatesglass fiber-reinforced polyetheretherketone (GF-PEEK)composite stifened panels,proposing anintegrated material-structure-manufacturingdesignapproach.Finiteelementsimulationwas firstemployed to evaluate C-shaped and hat-shaped stifenerconfigurations,revealing significant advantages forthe hat-shaped design.Subsequently,toling forforming hat-shapedGF-PEEKstiffeners and panels was designed.Finall,stiffeners andpanels were fabricatedusing asegmentedforming process,folowed byassemblyinto stiffened panels viaa welding processThefindings of this study offer valuable insights for advancing the application of thermoplastic composites in the aviation sector.
