Simulation analysis and design of CFRP actuator under harmonic vibration in aero-engine actuation system

Abstract:Toadressthelightweightrequirements ofaircraft engineactuationsystems,adesignschemeforanactuator cylinderincorporating lightweightcarbon fiber-reinforced polymer(CFRP) isproposed.Basedon Miner's linear cumulative damagetheory,finiteelementharmonic vibrationanalysiswasperformedontheCFRPactuatorcylinder.Thisanalysis dentifiedcriticallocationsonthecylinderunder harmonicloads.Using thestressresponseat these critical pointsandthe dwell pointstress results,theharmonic vibration fatiguelifeofthecriticalcomponents wascalculated.Thecalculationsrevealed thatthe weak points ofthiscompositeactuatorcylinderoccuratthepiston jointandthecylinderbody.Under the specified loadingconditionsof 2O hours ofstandard sinusoidalspectrum vibrationand1hourof triaxial dwellfequency vibration,the design meets the vibration life requirements.
