Abstract:Toinvestigate theimpactof localized pittngcorosiononseismicperformanceof steel structures incorrosive environments,fiveH-shaped Q235steelcolumns wereselectedandsubjected to varyingdegresof pitingcorrosionatsame locations.Basedonlowcyclerepeated loading tests,theinfluenceoflocaliedpitingcorrosionatdiferent locationsothe seismic performanceofstelstructures wasevaluated,andtheimpactof piting damageon theloadandenergydissipation capacityof steelcolumnswasanalyzedthroughnumericalsimulation.Theresultsshowthatlocalizedpiting corrosin significantlyreduces thepeak load,stifness,and bearing capacityof steelcolumns.Theseismicperformance degradation caused bypiting inpure bending regions isfar more severethanthatinbending-shearregions.Additionally,piting onthe righthalfofthecross-section leads toagreaterreductioninseismicperformancecompared topitingonthelower half.To addresslocalizedpiting,repair methodssuch assurface treatmentandreinforcement strengtheningareproposed,offering practical references for the maintenance and rehabilitation of steel structures in corrosive environments.
