【Abstract】Objective To explore the relationship between upward social comparison and problematic social mediauseofcolege students,andthe mediating roleof stress perceptionand social anxiety.Methods IowaNetherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM),ChinesePerceived Stress Scale (CPSS),InteractionAnxiety Scale (IAS)and Adolescent Problem Mobile Social Network Use Behavior Assessment Questionnaire were used to conduct a survey among a total of 748 college students.Results ① There was a significant positive correlation amongupward social comparison,stress perception,social anxietyand problematic social media use (r=0.23- 0.50,all P<0.01 ); (20 ② Stress perception and social anxiety played a significant mediating role between upward social comparisonand problematic social mediause,with a total indirect effect of O.123,accounting for 28.67% (20 of the total effect(O.429) and a direct effect of O.3O7,accounting for 71.56% of the total effect.In this study,stress perception was found to have a mediating effect with a coefficient of O.O65,explaining 15.15% of the total effect. Social anxiety also showed a mediating effect with a coeficient of O.O3o,accounting for 6.99 % of the total effect. Additionally,thecombinedmediating effectof stress perceptionand socialanxiety was observed withacoeficient of 0.028,contributing to 6.53% of the total effect.Conclusion Upward social comparison not only directly predicts the problematic social media useofcollege students,but alsoinfluences the problematicsocial mediause through indirectchannelsofstress perceptionand socialanxietywhich isof guidingsignificance forfuture intervention.
