Effects of college students'internet gaming disorder on depression and anxiety:the mediating role of aggression

【Abstract】Objective To explore the relationship between internet gaming disorder among college students and negativeemotionssuchasaggression,depression,ndanietyandtofurtherunderstandtheimpactofiteret gaming disorder incollege students.Methods Using the simplified Chinese versionof the10-item Internet Gaming Disorder Test (IGDT-1O),the Chinese versionof theBussandPerryAggression Questionnaire (AQ-CV),and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21) to conduct an assessment on 987colege students.ResultsThere wasa significant positive correlation between Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD),aggression (AG),depressionand anxiety among college students (r=O.43-0.79, P<0.01 ).Aggression mediated the effect of IGD on depression,with a mediating effect value of O.18,accounting for 31.41% of the total effect; aggression also mediated the effect of IGD on anxiety,with a mediating effect value of 0.2O,accounting for 38.63% of the total effect. Conclusion Internet gaming addictionamong collegestudents hasadirectimpactondepressionandanxiety,with aggressiveness playingapartial mediating role inthe influence of internet gaming disorderon depressionand anxiety among collge students.
