【Abstract】ObjectiveTo revise the Vacillating Body Image Scale （VBIS） in Chinese version，and then totest domestically itsreliability，validityand measurement invariance across body types in youngadult women. MethodsAtotal of16lyoungadult females （sample1） were investigated for itemanalysisand exploratory factor analysis with the VBIS.A total of 326 young adult females（sample 2） were investigated with the VBIS，Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale（RSES），Self-Concept clarity Scale （SCCS）and Eating Disorder Inventory-Drive for Thinness （EDI-DT）forconfirmatory factoranalysisandcriterionvalidityanalysis.Both sample1and sample2were analyzed with measurement invariance acrossbody types.ResultsExploratory factor analysis showed that the scale of VBIS inChineseversionhadasingle-factorstructure（Bolen-Stinex²/v=1.497，CF=0.997，TLI=0.994，SRM=0.059， RMSEA=O.039）.The VBIS scores were negatively correlated with the scores of RSESand SCCS （ r= -0.161，-0.394， all P<0.01 ）.In comparison，the VBIS scores were positively correlated with the scores of EDI-DT （r =0.386，P<0.01， ！ The configural，metric，scalar，strictandlatent mean invarianceofthe Chinese versionof VBIS wereallacceptable in femaleswith difererntbody types.Conclusion The Chinese versionof VBIS has goodreliabilityand validity， as well as body types equivalence，which thuscanbeusedasanefectivetool to measure thebody image instability among Chinese adult young females.
