【Abstract】Objective Exploring how negative life events experienced by middle school students during theepidemicaffected their psychological distres，andthe mediating roleofcore self-evaluation.MethodsOne thousandone hundred andone middle schol students （473 malesand 628 females）from a high schol in Henan Province were selectedand measured using the Adolescent Life Events Scale（ALSEC），Psychological Distress Scale （BSRS-5），and Core Self Assessment Scale （CSES）.ResultsALSEC score is positivelycorelated with BSRS-5 score（ β=0.28 ， P<0.001 ），negative correlation CSES score（ β=0.59 ，P<0.001）；Negative correlation between CSES score and BSRS-5 score（ β=-0.49 ， P<0.001 ）；Core self-evaluation plays a partial mediating role between negative life events and psychological distress，and the value of mediating effect was 49.2% of the total effect.Gender has a moderating role in the relationship between negative life events and core self-evaluation（ β=-0.52 ， -0.64 ，both P （204号
