Intervention effect of online group counseling on the occupational calling and work engagement of primaryschool teachers

【Abstract】Objective To explore the enhancing effect of positive psychology online group counseling on the occupational calingand work engagement of primary school teachers.Methods Twenty-four primary schol teachers who were interested in participating in online group tutoring were publicly recruited,and 12 were selected as the experimental group for 4 weeks of positive psychologyonline group tutoring.Thecontrol group of 12 did notreceiveany intervention,and the two groups were measured andanalyzed beforeand after using the Occupational Calling Scaleand theWork Engagement Scale.ResultsThere was no statistical diferencein thescores of occupational calingand work engagementbetweenthe experimental groupandthecontrol group before intervention P>0.05 ).After group intervention,the total average scores of occupational calling and work engagement in the experimental group were statisticaly different from those of the control group(t=2.25,P<0.O5;t=2.10, P <0.05).There were statistical differences in the scores of occupational calling ( t=. -3.70,P<0.01),guidance(t=-2.22,P<0.05),altruistic contribution ( t=⋅ -3.51, P <0.01),meaningful value( t= -2.17, P <0.05),work engagement (t=-4.01, P <0.01),dedication 0 t= -2.92, <0.05),and focus( t=. -2.28,P
