Cluster analysis of yield and taste quality of 38faba bean (Vicia faba L.)materials

ABSTRACT: In order to choose high-yielding and high-quality fresh edible faba bean materials suitable for planting in the middle and lower reachesof theYangtzeRiver,atotalof 38fresh ediblefaba beans Were selected as theexperimental materials,and the yield and taste quality were determinedand subjectedto cluster analysis in Yangzhou University experimentalfarmin 2022 and 2O23.Theresults showed significant diferences inyieldand tastequalityamong diferent faba bean materials,with a coefficient of variation of 30.66% for yield and 12.52% for comprehensive evaluation score of taste quality,respectively.The sweetnessindex played adecisive role in the comprehensive evaluation score of taste quality. Through the systematic clustering method,the 38 materials were clasified into four categories:moderate yield and low comprehensive evaluation score of taste quality(Group I),high yield and good performance in comprehensive evaluation score of taste quality(Group II),high yield and moderate performance in taste quality(Group II),low yield and good performance incomprehensive evaluation scoreof taste quality(Group I).In Group I,Cixi local variety,Tongyang local variety,andthehybridizationof Dongtailocal varietyandthe Yangzhoulocal variety,werethemostremarkable in yield andtastequality.Theycouldbeadoptedas materials for high-yieldand high-qualityproductionoffresh edible faba bean.
