The research progress of the effects of microplastics on plant growth and disease resistance

ABSTRACT:Owing to increasingly severe isue of microplastic polution,microplastics have even been included in the ranks of emerging pollutants and becomeoneofthenew types of polutants that need to becontroledin China,and more attentions have been paid to its impact on plant growth and disease resistance.Microplasticsafect plant seed germination andgrowth by interfering/disrupting photosynthesis,hormone synthesis,antioxidant function,gene expresson and metabolism,and alsoafect plant disease resistance by altering soil microbial communities and regulating the expressionof disease-resistance-related genes and secondary metabolic processes.Through the comprehensive elaborationof the above research progress,this paper provides theoretical supportand practical guidance for furtherunderstandingand copig with the potential threats of microplastics to ecosystems.
