Abstract: The genetic diversity analysis was conducted on 176 mung bean germplasm resources collcted across Hunan province from 2015 to 2022. Our findings revealed a broad geographical distribution of these accessions acrossthe province,exhibiting a wide altitudinal gradient.The genetic diversity index for qualitative traits was relativelylow,whereas quantitative traits was detected withsignificantly higher diversitywith greater coefficients of variation. Cluster analysis segregated the 176 germplasm resources into six distinct groups,each exhibiting unique phenotypic characteristics: group II,characterized by multiple branches and high yield,group IIl by dwarf architecture,and group VIby tallstature,elongated pods,and large seed size.Principal component analysis of ten quantitative traits yielded five principal components with eigenvalues exceeding1,accounting for a cumulative contribution rate of 79.959% .Through comprehensive evaluation,the accessionsreceived scores ranging from 0.138 to 0.588.Seven superior germplasm resources with scores exceeding 0.5 were identified, including two long-od,two high-yield,two tal-stature,and one large-seed accession.This study provides a multidimensional analysis of mung bean germplasm resources in Hunan province,offering valuable insights for future germplasm innovation and new variety breeding.
