Abstract Preventing and controlling desertification is an importanttask for promoting high-qualitydevelopment and achieving harmonious coexistence between humans and nature inmodernization.Ningxia，as one of the provincial-level administrative regions in China with the most severe land desertification，haslong been confronted with thesevere challenge of "sand advancing while people retreat".Since the18th National Congressof the Communist Partyof China， underthe guidanceof Xi Jinping ThoughtonEcological Civilization，Ningxia hasactively explorednew models forsand preventionand control，achieving a historic transformation from "sandadvancingand people retreating" to "green advancing andsand retreating"，andrelying onthedevelopmentofthesand industry，has successfullyentereda new stageof "mininggold inthesand".ThemainpracticesofNingxiainsand prevention，controlandutilization havebeen systematicalysummarized andrefined，aiming to contribute "Chinese wisdom" to global ecological governance withthe "Ningxia experience".
