Resource-Based Configurational Analysis of Innovation Performance Determinants in“Specialized，Refined，Differential，Innovation”SME:

Abstract:Innovation is an important means for enterprises to acquire and maintain core competitiveness. This study takes 90 national-level“Specialized，Refined，Differential, Innovation” smal and mediumsized enterprises as the research object，and uses the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis method （fsQCA） to identify the resource-driven factors influencing the inovation performance of “SRDI" small and medium-sized enterprises from the perspective of resources， based on three levels: organization，environment and technology. The research finds that a single resource factor does not constitute a necessary condition for high innovation performance; the synergy and interaction of internal and external resources are required to jointly affect the innovation performance of enterprises. There are four paths to achieve high innovation performance for SRDI enterprises，namely the environment-organization resource synergy-driven type,the technology-enviroment-driven type supported by human resources， the organization-technology-driven type under government support，and the organization-research and development breakthrough type under environmental constraints.The absence of human resources constitutes a critical determinant of innovation failure，while enterprises must maintain at least two of three fundamental conditions - government subsidies， organizational slack，or R&D investment - to sustain the basic requirements for innovation activities. The research conclusions and management implications help deepen the understanding of the paths to improve the innovation performance of specialized，refined，distinctive and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises.
