Research on effect of rotor strength failure modes in high-power solid rotor high-speed permanent magnet motors

Abstract:Ignoring axial constraints leads to erors in calculation of evaluation parameters for various strength failure modes of rotor structures with axial constraints,such as solid permanent magnet rotors. In order to rapidly and accurately identify the evaluation parameters for the strength failure modes of solid permanent magnet rotors and enhance the reliability of the integrated design of such motors,a high-power solid high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor for air compressors was taken as the research object.Combining the theories of material mechanics and thermodynamics,static analytical models for solid permanent magnet rotors with and without axial constraints were established,respectively. Calculation methods for the evaluation parameters of three rotor strength failure modes with and without axial constraints were proposed. On this basis,the differences in the effects of different speeds and temperatures on the three failure modes of the solid permanent magnet rotor under conditions with and without axial constraints were comparatively studied,revealing the influence laws of axial constraints on the evaluation parameters of various rotor failure modes. Finally,the rotor integrated design and strength verification of a 38000r/min solid high-speed permanent magnet motor were completed using the proposed methods. Correctness of the proposed methods was verified by combining finite element simulation and prototype experiments.
