Abstract: [Purposes] This paper aims to analyze the problem of surface crack defects that often occur in the casting of blocking valves for power plant boilers,and provide theoretical basis for preventive measures and life evaluation of blocking valve surface cracks.[Methods] Taking the high-temperature cast steel valve body of the reheating section of a power plant boiler as an example,non-destructive testing, metallgraphic testing,hardness testing,chemical composition analysis and other tests were conducted. At the same time,ANSYS software was used to simulate and analyze the characteristics of the surface crack location, morphology expansion direction, metalographic structure,etc.[Findings] The results indicate that the crack is a fluid thermal crack under uneven stress dynamics.[Conclusions] In order to prevent surface cracks in valve blockages,it is necessary to optimize casting processes,avoid stress concentration,and strictly control welding heat treatment processes.
