Effects of Interaction Between Planting Density and Organic Fertilizer on Maize Grain Yield and Economic Benefit

Abstract:Inoder todeterminetheoptimal plantingdensityandorganic fertilizeraplicationrateforincreasing maize yield inregion,asplit-plotexperiment wasdesignedusingplantingdensityandorganicfertlizerrateasexperimentalfactors. Fiveplantingdensis(675075O00,2500,9o,970plants/ha)weeasigedtoainplotsndtegatlir rates (67 500,82 500, 97 500kg/ha )to subplots.The interaction efects of these two factors on maize grain yield, yield components, andeconomicbenefitwere investigated.Resultsshowedthattheinteractionmainlyimprovedmaizegrainyieldbyincreasingear number.Yieldincreasedwithhigherplantingdensityandorganicfertilizerinput.Theighestgrainyield,17998.Okg/hawas obtained under the combination of 97 5Oo plants/ha planting densityand 97500kg/ha organic fertilizer rate. This treatment also resulted inthe highesteconomicreturn,with totalandnet profits reaching 468OOand1240O Yuan/ha,respectively.
