Study on the Optimal Chemical Regulation Period for Densely Planted Spring Maize of Integrated Water and Fertilizer in Northwest China

Abstract:Lodgingisamajorlimiting factorformaizeyield,andtheapplicationofchemicalregulatorscaneffectively enhance stalk mechanicalstrengthandpreventlodging.Toclarifytheefectsofchemicalregulationatdiferentgrowthstageson stalkdevelopmentandyield,thisstudyused twmaizevarieties,MC67OandDenghai618,asmaterials,chemicalreguationwas appliedatdegrohsgeeaf,laaffafsslig).aesue morpholgyhicalgttedbodateotet,ldditsompontsereteedtoestigateft ofchemicalregulationtimingonstalkdevelopmentandyieldformation.ResultsshowedthatforMC670,theaverageintemode puncture strength under the 6 -leaf stage treatment increased by 10.8% over the control with no chemical regulation, the diameter of the basal1 to 6 internodes increased by 6.1% ,and internode dry matter at top,medium and bottom increased by 5.4% , 18.9% and (2号 19.0% ,respectively. The contents of cellulose,hemicellulose,and lignin increased by 12.5% , 14.8% and 5.4% . For Denghai618, the averageinternodepuncture strength of the basal1to5 internodesunderthe8-leaf treatment increased by 16.6% over the control with no chemical regulation,the diameter of medium internodes increased by 14.6% ,internode length atbottom and mediumwere shortened by 11.9% and 2.0% ,respectively,and internode dry matter at medium and top increased by 33.1% and 5.0% , respectively. Under 15-leaf treatment,yields of both varieties increased by 5.5% ~11.2% compared to the control with no chemical regulation.Thenumberofearsharvesteddidnotsignificantlydiferfromthecontrol,butthenumberofkernelsperearand 100- (20 kernel weight were higher.
