Basedon the theoryof human-land relations,this study quantitativelyanalyses how different environmental factors influence the spatial distribution of settlements,and thoroughly examines the intrinsic connections between regional environments and settlement site selection and spatial distribution.This research providesa scientific basis forvolcanic geological disaster risk assessment,traditional setement protection,and sustainable development.Taking the typical volcanic geological region of Leizhou Cityas theresearch object,247 traditional volcanic settements within were selected as research samples.Spatial analysis methods including kernel density analysis,average nearest neighbor indexanalysis,and bufferzoneanalysiswere employed to systematically reveal thespatialdistributioncharacteristicsand siteselectionwisdomof traditionalsettlements in the study area.The study indicates that,constrained by volcanic topography,soil,and hydrologicalfactors,traditional volcanic settlementsinLeizhou Cityexhibit significant spatial imbalance and clustering,with a higher concentrationalong the coast than inland, ultimatelyformingthe typical distributionpatternsof'near the sea-adjacent to fields'and 'adjacentto mountains-adjacent to fields.'
