Research Progress of Pigmented Rice and Breeding Practice in China: Current Situation, Challenges and Prospects

Abstract: The germplasmresources of pigmented rice arediverse.Among them,redrice and purple/black ricehave atracted much atentionbecausetheyarerichinvariousactivecomponentseneficialtohumanhealth.However,comparedwithcommonrice,the breedingofpigmentedicerietiesistillelatielylgingiddfurterimprovntissilleedinesfc traitsandeatingquality.This paperreviews the currntresearch progressofpigmentedricefrom aspectssuch asthenutritional qualityof pigmentedric,thegeneticdiversityof germplasmresources,andthedentificationofpigmentsubstanceaccumulationin grains.Itintroduces theinnovationofgermplasmresoucesandthebreedingofnewvarietiesofpigmentedriceinChinaandputs forward the opportunities and challenges faced by pigmented rice breeding in China.
