The Impact of Post-weaning Water Management on the Quality and Yield of Cold-region Rice Seedlings

Abstract:Asa major riceproduction base in China, Heilongjiang Province requires precise water management during the seedlingstagetoachievebothhighyieldandsuperiorquality.UsingtheLonggeng-31cultivarasexperimentalmaterial, thisstudyimplementedthreewatermanagementtreatmentsduring theweaning stageunderdry sedling cultivation: conventional dry cultivation(CK, soil moisture 50%-60 % ),water seedling cultivation(A,maintaining 1 cm water layer),and moist seedling cultivation (B, 100% soil saturation). The results demonstrated that seedling quality in A and B treatments wassignificantlyinferior to CK,withreductionsinleafage,seedling fulness,andseedingvigorindex by6.67 % and (204 5.07% , 10.19% and 8.33% ,and 20.00% and 9.03% ,respectively. Moreover,CK treatment exhibited more robust root systemdevelopment.Physiologicalanalysisrevealedthatmalondialdehyde(MDA)contentinAandBtreatmentsdecreasedby (2号 27.61% and 24.38% compared to CK,while SOD,POD,and CAT enzyme activities in A treatment were 34.23% , (20 30.88% ,and 50.57% lower than CK,respectively,indicating that dry cultivation significantly enhances seedling antioxidant capacity.Yield evaluation showed that CK treatment achieved 11.74% and 4.32% higher yieldsthan A and B treatments. Thisstudyconfirmsthatmaintainingdrycultivationconditionsduring theweaningstageeffctivelycultivatesvigorous seedlingsandincreasesyield,providingcrucialtheoreticalsupportforwater-savingandhigh-yieldricecultivationin Heilongjiang Province.
