AbstractToadressthefracture isse during theproductionofhigh-puritycopper wires,systematicanalysis offracture surfaces andcopperrodbiletswasconductedusingscaning electron microscopy(SEM)formorphologicalobservationenergy-dispersive spectroscopy(DS)forareaanalysis,andX-raydifraction(XRD).Theresultsrevealedtreecharacteristicregionsonthefracture surface:anoxidezone,adimplezone,andaninclusionzone.Fracture wasprimarilyatributed tolocalizedhighoxygencontentinthe wire,leadingtooxideenichmentatthefracturedgereducedbondingstrengthncreasedbritleness,andstressconcetration inducedbyinclusions.Tecopperrodbiletexhibitedapolycrystallnesructurewithcoarseandunevenlydistributed grais,where numerousinternalgrainboundarieseasilyinitiateddefectsandfractures.Basedonthefindings,adirectionalsolidificatioprocess combining hot mold continuous casting with high-vacuum smelting was proposed to produce single - crystal or quasi-single-crystal high-purity copper wires,eliminating transverse grain boundaries and improving processing performance.
