Abstract A domestic copper smelter employed the“side-blown furnace (SBF) smelting + converting furnace (CF) converting" processforblistercopperproduction.However,constrainedbyitssmallscaleandoutdatedequipment,thesmelterfacedissuessuch ashighnergyconsumption,everelow-altitudepolution,ighproductionosts,ndporonomicerformance.Thoughdetailed analysisofthesmeltersexistingprocessanditsproblems,atechnologicaltransformationplanwasimplemented.Thecoeofthis upgrade involved the installation of a new oxygen enriched side-blown bath smelting furnace,a multi-lance top-blown converting furnace,alongwiththeirsupportingwasteheatboilersandelectrostaticprecipitationsystems.Thiswassupplementedbythe refurbishmentorexpansionofoterutitiesfacilities.Aftertransformation,theblistercopperproductioncapacityincreasedby approximately 40% ,the comprehensive energy consumption per unit product significantly decreased to 125 kgce/t (far surpassing the nationalstadd,ocingstsfopdofidecedooiccoddf low altitude pollutionwascompletelyeliminated.Thiscasevalidates theeffectivenessof the“side-blownsmelting + top-blown converting”process inresolving high energyconsumption andlow-altitudepollution while enhancing economic benefits.
