Abstract: This article proposed a multi-layer twisted pyramid absorber (MTPA) for electromagnetic waves. By introducing metal square patches and adjusting the arrangement and rotation angle of the metal patches, ultra-wideband absorption was achieved in the frequency bands of 6.95-24.25 GHz and 26.51-38.81 GHz. Compared with traditional pyramid absorbers, MTPA can not only improve absorption performance in the low-frequency region, but also introduce an additional absorption band from 26.51 to 38.81 GHz. To study the widening mechanism of the absorption bandwidth of the twisted structures, a simulation was carried out on the structure, and the third-order mode magnetic field distribution of the MTPA absorbers and traditional absorbers was compared and analyzed in the absorption frequency band. It is found that the resonance frequency of the third-order mode in the proposed MTPA is much lower than that of traditional pyramid absorbers, causing the resonance frequency of the third-order mode to redshift and ultimately intersect with the resonance frequency band of the fundamental mode, thus broadening broaden the absorption bandwidth. This study provides new ideas and references for the design of ultra-wideband absorbers.
