An exploration of "ideological and political elements" integrated into curriculum teaching in higher medical colleges

Abstract: Integrating "ideological and political elements" into the curriculum of higher medical collges is not only a strategic deployment to implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education,but also a practical measure to addressthe challnges in medical humanities education. It is also an important manifestation of cultivating the spirit of "great medical ethics and sincerity" among medical students and fulfiling cultural missions in the new era. Based on the teaching concept of "grand ideological and political courses",a medical " ideological and political elements" system oriented by the threedimensional goals of "knowledge-ability-quality" is constructed. The four core "ideological and political elements" are deconstructed from four dimensions: political identity,professional ethics,humanistic care, and scientific spirit. Through innovative practices in courses such as anatomy and infectious diseases, "ideological and political elements" with medical characteristics are developed.To integrate "ideological and political elements" into medical curriculum teaching and reshape the "grand ideological and political" pattern of medical colleges, efforts can be made in four aspects: reconstructing the curriculum system, innovating teaching methods, strengthening the construction of teaching staff, and reforming the evaluation system. This approach aims to achieve the dual goals of knowledge imparting and value guidance,and promoting the synchronous development of ideological and political education and medical professional education.
