【Abstract】ObjectiveTo investigate the efects ofa campus-based mindfulness intervention on learning efciencyand cognitivefunctionamongcollege students.MethodsAtotal of 654 nursing students newly enrolled inthe Medical Collgeof Qingdao Huanghai Universityin2O23 were recruited and randomly asigned toan experimental group n=326 and acontrol group (n=328 ).The College Learning Effectiveness Inventory (CLEI) and the Computerized Cognitive Tasks (CCT) were used as assessment tools.The experimental group received mindfulness training integrated into psychology courses,while thecontrol group received standard psychology courses only.Aquasi-experimental pretest-posttest design was employed to compare changes in learning effciency and cognitiveabilities between thetwo groups.ResultsApart fromage,there wereno significant differences in baselinecharacteristics or unadjusted delta scores ofCLEIand CCT between the two groups before and after the intervention ( P >0.05).After adjusting for confounding factors such asage,gender,and baseline scores,covariance analysis showed no significant diferences in individual CLEI item scores between theexperimental and control groups ( P >0.05).However,the total CLEI score was significantly higher in the experimental group( P =0.009). Moreover,the experimental group demonstrated significantly better performance in CCT tasks including digit vigilance,reaction time,spatial memory,and memory scanning compared to the control group ( P <0.05). Conclusion The campus-based mindfulness intervention can enhance both learning eficiency and cognitive abilities among college students.
