Longitudinal study on the relationship between academic performance,anxiety,and depresson among juniorhigh school students

【Abstract】Objective To explore the longitudinal predictive relationship between academic performance, anxiety,anddepressonlevelsamong juniorhighschoolstudents.MethodsTheMentalHealthTestandthePatient Health Questionnaire-9 wereused toconduct 354 junior high school studentsacross three waves of datacollection at one-semester intervals.Additionally,final exam scores of students were also collected.Results ① Previous academic performance can significantly and negatively predict subsequent levels of depression( β=-0.071 ); ② (204号 Previous manifestations of interpersonal relationships anxiety B1=0.159 , β 2=0.147 ,allergytendencies( βℓ1=0.238 β 2=0.188 ),and physical symptoms( , β 2=0.156 can effectively and positively predict subsequent levels of depression.ConclusionAccording tothetheoryofcontrolvalue,thisstudy explainedthelongitudinalpredictive relationship betweenacademicperformance,anxiety,and depresion.The senseofacademic valueand subjective control constitutedproximal determinants of depression level.
