Abstract：This article introduces Profesor TONG Guangdong's clinical experience in treating liver cirrhosis ascites basedonthe diffrentiationof qi，water，blood，and deficiency.ProfessorTONG believesthat livercirrhosis ascites corrsponds to the Chinese medicine conceptof tympanites.He proposes athree-step diferentiation principle： first，discerning subtle changes；second，identifying key points；and third，determining appropriate timing. In treatment，heemphasizessothing the liverandregulatingqi to move water，invigorating bloodandresolvingdampness to promote urination，and tonifying qi and warming to promote urination.These principles ofqi，water，blood，and deficiency are integrated throughout the entire process of diagnosing and treating liver cirrhotic ascites.
