Experience of XIANG Dongfang in Treating Dysmenorrhea in Endometriosis Based on Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Diseases Similar to Reverting Yin Syndrome

Abstract：Endometriosis is a challenging gynecological condition，with dysmenorhea being itsmost typical symptom.Professor XIANG Dongfang，in clinical practice，applies the classic theory of Chinese medicine formulas advocatedbytherenowned expertXU Jiadong.This theoryisused tounderstanddysmenorheainendometriosis from the perspective of the pathogenesisof diseases similar toreverting yinsyndromeand to guide syndromediferentiationand treatment.Itis believedthatthe diseaseprimarilyaffects thethree yin meridians（greateryin，lesseryin，andreverting yin），with afocus onthereverting yin meridian.In treatment，both exterior and interior pathogenic factors，cold and heat，and deficiencyand excess shouldbeconsidered.Emphasis is placed on warming and supplementing，andthe use ofbittrandcold purgativesshould beavoided when there is heat.Medications that activate blood circulation are commonly used，but aggresive purgationisprohibited.Prescriptionssuch as Bupleurum-based formulas， Peucedanum-based formulas，and heart-draining based formulas are frequently applied，achieving satisfactory therapeutic effects.
