Effects of different stumping treatments on leaf photosynthesis and fine root dynamic morphological traits of Salix psammophila

ABSTRACT:The leaf photosynthesis and fine root dynamic morphologyof Salix psammophila in diferent stumping treatments(0,10,15, 20cm of stubble heights) in western Ordos area of Inner Mongolia were quantitatively studied. The Salix psammophila plantation with basicallythe same site and standconditions and in the recession period was selected asthe research object.The net photosynthetic rate,transpirationrate,wateruse eficiency and fine rootdynamic morphology were explored,and the optimal stumping treatments was selected bycomprehensive analysis of membership function.The results showed that:The net photosynthetic rate,transpiration rate and water use eficiency of Salix psammophila reached the highest in August under diffrent stubble heights.The net photosynthetic rate,transpiration rate and water use efficiency of Salix psammophila in August were the best at 0cm stubble heigh. The root length density,growth rate,death rate,and the ratioof life to death of Salix psammophila under diffrent flat stubble treatments were all in the order of 0cm of stubble heights >15cm of stubble heights >10cm of stubble heights >20cm of stubble heights > non-flat stubble,and it performed best from August to September. Through the analysis of membership function,the treatment of 0cm of stubble heights was relatively good,indicating that Salix psammophila in the western Ordos area should be treated with 0cm flat stubble height to increase its growth rate.
