[Abstract] Objective:To investigate the clinical application value of T2 mapping in acute occult injury of the posterior root ofthelateralmeniscusofthekneejoint.Methods:Atotalof65patientswithacuteinjuryoftheposteriorrootofthelateral meniscusofthekneejoint(experimentalgroup)and40healthyindividuals(controlgroup)werecolected.ROIswere delineatedatthetibialattachmentoftheposteriorrot,themiddesegmentoftheposteriorroot,andthetransitionbetween the posterior root and the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus.Then T2 mapping values were measured and compared of the two groups,and their consistency with arthroscopy findings was analyzed by Kappa test.Results:The T2 mapping values at the tibialattachmentoftheposteriorot,themiddlesegmentoftheposteriorroot,ndthetransitionbetweetheposteriorroot andtheposterior horninthe experimental groupweresignificantly higher than those inthecontrolgroup(all P<0.05 ). Arthroscopyshowedthat,amongthe65casesintheexperimentalgroup,thetibialatachmentoftheposteriorotwasinjured in20cases,themidlesegmentoftheposteriorrootwasinjuredin22cases,andthetransitionbetweentheposteriorroot andtheposteriorhornwasinjuredin23cases.Tmappingshowedthatthetibialatachmentoftheposteriorrootwas injuredin23cases,themidlesegmentoftheposteriorrotwasinjuredin22cases,andthetransitionbetweentheposterior root and the posterior horn was injured in 2O cases.The results of T2 mapping were consistent with the results of arthroscopy ( K= 0.763).Conclusion:Thequantitativevalueof MRITmappingcanprovidereference forthediagnosisofacuteocultinjury at the posterior root of the lateral meniscus of the knee joint.
