[Abstract]Objective:Tomeasuretheadultparotidglandfatfractionusing3.OTMRIIDEAL-IQtechnologyandtoevaluate itscorelationwithage.Methods:Aretrospectiveanalysiswasconductedon12Opatientswhounderwentroutineheadand neckMRIexaminations.Theparticipantsweredividedintofouragegroups,theyouthgroup(aged18to44),middle-aged group(aged45to59),youngerelderlygroup(aged60to74),andelderlygroup(aged75to89),with30casesineach group.Thefatfraction(FF)valuesofbilateralparotidglandsweremeasured,andthediferencesinFFvaluesbetween theleftandrightparotidglandwerecomparedineachgroup.ThediferencesinFFvalueandBMIamongthefourgroups werecompared too.CorelationanalysiswasconductedbetweenFFvalueandage,BMI.Results:Therewasnostatisticaly significantdiferenceintheFFvaluesbetweentheleftandrightparotidglands(allP>.O5).However,significantintergoup diferenceswerefoundintheaverageFFvaluesof thebilateral parotidglandsamong the fourgroups(al P<0.001 ). There were no significant intergroup differences in BMI among the four group (all P >0.05).The parotid gland FFvalues were positively correlated with age r=0.443,P<0.001 ).Conclusions:The FF values of bilateral parotid glands in adults have nodiferencesandarecorelatedwithage.Thereforeage-relatedchangesinparotidfatcontentshouldbecarefullyconsiered when evaluating patients with Sjogren’s syndrome.
