Abstract The relationship between traditional Chinese medicine （TCM）and compound TCM preparations with animal intestinal health isreviewed，theapplicationof TCMandcompound TCMinanimal production issummarized，andthe potential mechanism by which they affectthe intestinal health of animals through gutmicrobiotais described.The current development statusof TCMandcompound TCMand their researchand potential as clinical breeding treatment drugs are also analyzedand prospected，inorder to provide ideas fortheapplicationofcompoundTCMinthe treatment of diarrhea diseases in animals， especially in lambs.
