Abstract:The structurallightweighting in marine and aerospace industries heavily relies on the application of widewidth magnesiumallysheets. To improve theirhotrolling processes andachieve massproduction, this study investigates thetransverse tensile properties and microstructure evolution of hot-roled wide AZ31 magnesium alloyplates.Through metalographic experiments and tensile testing characterization, this paper elucidates the formation mechanismof the transverseperformance gradient during hot rollng, with afocus on theregulatory efects of rolling parameters on the gradient distribution of mechanical properties.A predictive framework for microstructure and mechanical performance during hot roling was established. The results demonstrate that temperature gradients and inhomogeneous strain distribution during rollng inducesignificant regional variations indynamic recrystalizationdegree and grain orientation, leading to drastic fluctuations in transverse mechanical properties, particularly in width-direction elongation. This research provides theoretical foundations for optimizing rolling processes of wide magnesium ally sheets andoffers critical guidance for the rolling forming of lightweight magnesium components in aerospace applications.
