Abstract：Ginseng stems and seedlings are of high economicand medicinal value.To addressthe problems of timeconsuming，labor-intensive and high economic cost of existing manual seedling puling in China，a new type of seedling puller is intended to be designed.This paper conducts a preliminary design of the key component，i.e.，the sedling pulling wheel.According to the height of ginseng Varieties planted in Northeast China at the present stage，， as well as the planting interval and densityof ginseng，the diameter oftheseedling puling wheel is determined tobe 600mm and the length to be 2m . The three-dimensional modeling of the seedling pulling wheel is carried out using SolidWorkssoftware.In order to improve the unloading eficiencyand the applicabilityof the ginseng seedling puller，and in order to facilitate the operation on some ginseng stems and seedlings with longer length and deeper roots， the motion trajectory of the seedling pulling wheel is analyzed，and it is found that the ratio λ of its circumferential speed to the forward speed has an important influence on its operation.The three-dimensional model of the seedling puling wheel is imported into ADAMS for kinematic analysis，and the displacement and speed curves of the seedling pulling wheel under different seedling pulling speed ratios λ are measured.Finally，it is found that the value range of the seedling pulling speed ratio λ should be 1<λ⩽1.65 . When λ is less than or equal to 1， the seedling pulling tooth rolerhas no backward displacement relativeto the groundandfails to forma backwardacting force，which can't achieve the purpose of improving unloading efficiency and applicability. When λ is greater than 1.65，the motiontrajectories of multiple tooth rollers of the seedling pulling wheel intersect，which may cause damage to ginseng stems and seedlings.
