Research on Heat Transfer Characteristics of Rotating Phase Change Heat Storage Device

Abstract:A new greenhouse often uses a phase change heat storage device to control the room temperature,but the lowthermal conductivityof the phase change materialleads to the poor melting performance of the traditional phase change heat storage device.In order to improve the melting performance of PT,arotating mechanism was integrated and numerical simulations were conductedto studythe effcts of diferent rotation speeds onthemelting time,melting rate,temperature and total heat absorption.compared with the non-rotating phase change heat storage device, the melting time of the rotating phase change heatstorage device is significantly reduced.Within a certain range of rotation speeds,the melting rate of the phase change heat storage device first increases and then decreases with the increase of rotation speed,but it is higher than thatof thenon-rotating device.By measuring the fixed-point temperature inside the device,it is verified that without rotation,a lower slow-melting zone exists in the phase change heat storage device due tothe thermal buoyancy of natural convection,and rotation can improve the situationof the lower slow-melting zone.Combining experiments and numerical simulations,itcan be seen that rotation significantly improves the melting rate of the phase change heat storage device,makes the temperature distribution more uniform, and changes the single heat transfer mechanism in the case of no rotation.
