Research on Tree Feature Extraction Technology Based on Structured Light Scanning Measurement

Abstract:High-precision and convenient tree feature extraction iscrucial for forest resource management,wood product procesing and forest carbon storage measurement. In order to extract tree features eficiently and accurately, this paper proposes a tree feature extraction technologybased on structured light scanning measurement.In this study ,five kinds of sample trees were scanned using structured light 3D scanner to obtain point cloud data,and the three -dimensional modeling of trees was completed.Feature extraction was carredout forthe three-dimensional modelof trees,and the same sample trees were manually measuredusing a ruler,and then the results of extracting the height, diameter,cross sectional area and volume of trees by the two methods were evaluated. The results show that the difference of tree characteristic parameters between structured light scanning measurement method and manual measurement method iswithina reasonable range.The tree feature extraction technology based onstructured light scanning measurement studied in this paper is highly eficient,cost-efective and easy to operate,which can provide technical support for the digital development of forestry.
