Research on the Group Characteristics and Professional Profiles of Outstanding American Librarians in the 2Oth Century: A Focus on the “Library Hall of Fame”

Abstract This paper examines the inductes of the“Library Hall of Fame”published by the American library community in1951 and199.Using prosopography toanalyze biographical texts,it presents the professional profiles of outstanding American librarians in the 2Oth century.The paper first summarizes the group’s demographic characteristics, educational backgrounds,and career paths,thenanalyzes the temporal evolutionof these characteristicsacross the two lists,and finallyidentifieseighttypical professional profiles，highlighting theirprofessionalspiritof“benevolence, knowledge stewardship,professional excellence,and pursuit of innovation.”The paper finds that through innovative service models，promotionof professonal education,and leadershipin technological innovation,theseoutstanding librarians have comprehensively advanced the diversification and profesionalization of American librarianship.
