Application and effectiveness of inhalation therapy in perioperative airway management under the guidance of the enhanced recovery after surgery concept

【Abstract】 ObjectiveTo evaluate the current statusand effctiveness of inhalation therapy applied by surgeons in Guangzhou for perioperative airway management under the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) guidelies.MethodsFrom March18th to March 25th,2024,a cross-sectional survey was conducted using the Questionnaire Starplatformand aconvenience sampling method among 193 surgeons from12medicalinstitutions in Guangzhou that had formalladopted ERAS guidelines toassess the application of inhalation therapy within the ERAS framework and its impact on perioperative airway management.ResultsUnderstanding of the ERAS concept varied among doctors based onage,title,hospital types,and clinical department.Clinical teaching and handson training were identified as the primary learning methods for ERAS.Surgeons prioritized patient-specific factors, surgical methods,and associated riskswhen managing the airway during theperioperative period.Common management strategies included blood gasanalysis,optimized anesthesia techniques,and theuse of nebulization/ inhalation devices.Nebulized drug delivery is widely used both preoperatively and postoperatively,with common ERAS medications including fluticasone propionate,salbutamol sulfate,aminophyline,and beclomethasone propionate.The applicationof ERAS in perioperative airway management can reduce surgical risk,allviate postoperative painandcomplications,promotefunctionalrecovery,shortenhospital stay,andreduce medicalcosts.Theef-fect of inhalationtherapy( P
