AbstractTo reveal the variation patterns of soil nutrients one year after fire in the rocky mountainous regions of westernLiaoning,mountain forestlands before and after fireas wellas plainnon-mountain forestlands in Beipiao City,Liaoning Province were selected as research objects.The chemical properties,such as nitrogen(N),phosphorus (P),potassium(K),along with ratios including C/N,C/P ,and N/P in the 0-20cm surface soil layer,were analyzed to assess to evaluate soil nutrient status and stoichiometric characteristics.The results showed that the mass fractions of available phosphorus andavailable potassium in thesoil of rocky mountainous regions increased significantly ( P<0.05 ) due to the input of plant ash after fire. Although the total nitrogen mass fraction decreased due to losses athigh emperatures,the proportion of available nitrogen increased. Soil organic matter(OM),total organic carbon (TOC),cation exchange capacity (CEC),and electrical conductivity (EC) in the burned rocky mountainous regions increased significantly,showing no significant difference compared with the soil fertilityof plain non-mountainous regions. The stoichiometric characteristics of C/N,C/P ,and N/P were significantly elevated ( P<0. 05 ),indicating improved soil fertility in the mountainous regions.A large amount of soil phosphorus Was lost through physical transport after fire in the rocky mountainous regions.Therefore,phosphate fertilizer should beappropriately supplemented during vegetation restoration in burned areas to ensure plant growth.
