Abstract:Thisstudy investigated the effects ofLactobacillus supplementation in drinking wateronthe intestinal and immuneorgans in broilerbreedersduring thelatelaying period.Theaim is toprovideatheoretical basis forthe applicationofLactobacilus inpoultry husbandry.Atotalof36O healthy Silkiefowls (Black-bonedchickens),aged38 weekswithaverageweight of(2.4 ± 0.1) kg ,wererandomly assigned to a control group and a treatment group,each with6 replicates of3O birdsper replicate.Thecontrol group was provided withnormal drinking water,while the treatment group wasgiven a Lactobacillus nutrient solution( 2kg/t ,withaviable bacterial count of 3 .× 1 )9 CFU Δg′g )in theirdrinking water.Followinga7-dayadaptation period,theexperimental triallasted 65days.Resultsdemonstrated that,compared tothecontrol group,atday3O,therelative weightand organ indexof the jejunumand cecuminthe Lactobacillus - supplemented group were significantly increased ( P<0.05 ).At day 65,there was no significant difference in the intestinal organindex or relative weight between groups( P>0.05 ),but the thymus organ index was significantly increased( P<0.05 ),and other immune organ index showed a tendency for improvement. These findings indicate thatadding Lactobacilus todrinking watercanmitigate age-relateddecline of intestinal organs and enhance immune organ functioninlate-laying broiler breeders.
