Study on the Effect of Rear Spoiler Slotting on Aerodynamic Performance of SUV Electric Vehicles

Abstract:ThisstudyfocusesonSUVelectricvehiclesandemploysCFDsimulationmethodstoinvestigatetheimpactofrearspoilerslotingonveicleaerodynamicperformance.A1:1thre-dimensionalvehiclemodelwasestablishedwithappropratelydefiedcomputationaldomainsandboundaryconditions,simulatingaerodynamicperformanceundertworearspoilerconfigurations:no-sloted andslotedstructures.Theresultsindicatethatsquaresloting inthrearspoilerdoesnotreducevehicledragorift.Specifically,a 280mm square slot in the middle of the spoiler increased the drag coefficient and lift coefficient by 5.1% and 369.6% ,respectively.For three evenly distributed 140mm square slots,these coefficients rose by 14.2% and 176.1% ,respectively. This is primarily attributed to thesharpgeometric edges ofthe square slots,which easily induce flow separation and increase turbulent energy dissipation.
