Abstract:This study evaluatedastep-conveyor teaharvester toexplore feasible solutions formechanized harvesting of premiumteas.Itcomprehensivelycomparedthe harvesters’operational eficiency,harvestingquality,cost andeconomic benefits against single-operator portable harvesters and manual picking.The results indicate that the harvester utilizing comb-type zonedcutingandbud-leafstep-conveyingtechnologysignificantlyimprovedpickingquality,achievingabudleafintegrity rate of 87.2% ,higherthanboth portable harvester andmanual picking.Its operationalefficiency was 42.1kg/h 4.3 times that of manual harvesting and 72.1% that the portable harvester. The picking cost per unit area was only 30.6% (204号 that of manual picking and economic benefits were found to have increased by 5.9% compared with manual picking. The research demonstrates thatstep-conveyor tea harvesters offer distinctadvantages incomprehensiveoptimizationofquality efficiency,and cost, providing a viable new alternative for the mechanized harvesting of premium teas.
