Abstract: To investigate the variation of impact contact force between two objects under low-speed impacts, the feasibility of using piezoelectric fiber composite materials as sensors for testing impact contact force of small balls was studied.A model of free-fall impact of the ball was established,and the impact contact time was obtained by combining the measured output diachronic curve to derive the impact contact force. Experiments were conducted with diferent-sized balls and substrates of varying materials,and LS-DYNA software was utilized to simulate the process of ball impacting the plate,validating the applicability and accuracy of the piezoelectric sensor in measuring impact force. The results demonstrated that the method of obtaining impact contact force through the measured impact contact time using MFC sensors,and subsequent force calculation, aligned well with the software simulation results. During the impact contact process, the size of the ball and the stifessof the substrate significantly influenced the impact force, wherein larger ballsize and greater substrate stiffnessresulted inhigher impact contact force.
