Abstract: Trapezoidal shaping is widely used in digital shaping processng in nuclear spectroscopy due to its narrow shaping waveform,flexible adjustable parameters,and simplicity of implementation. However, traditional trapezoidal shaping methods struggle to efectively handle partial pulse pile-up scenarios.Therefore, this paper proposes an improved algorithm by introducing differential factors.The purpose of this study is to address the issue of partial pulse pile-up in trapezoidal shaping and to propose a novel approach by incorporating diffrential factors.The aim is to enhance the performance of the shaping algorithm in nuclear spectroscopy analysis. Starting from the traditional trapezoidal shaping method,this paper thoroughly analyzes common scenarios of pulse pile-up and presents trapezoidal shaping methods with first-order and second-order differential factors for diferent pile-up situations.The transfer function of the shaping algorithm in the Zdomain and its cascade structure are derived,and the parameters ofthe shaping system are analyzed in the time domain, frequency domain, and computational complexity aspects.Simulation experiments are conducted using simulated nuclear pulse signals and real sampled signals, and the 55Fe energy spectrum graphs are obtained for the three trapezoidal shaping methods.The experimental results demonstrate that the shaping performance is optimal when the second-order differential factor is introduced, in terms of count rate and energy resolution. In conclusion, the proposed improved algorithm incorporating differential factors effectively addresses the isue of partial pulse pile-up in trapezoidal shaping for nuclear spectroscopy analysis. The experimental results validate the superiorityof the second-order diffrential factor in terms of count rate and energy resolution. This research provides a valuable contribution to the field of digital shaping procesing in nuclear spectroscopy.
