Abstract: Toexplore the utilizationoftobaccoflower in tobacco flavoringapplications and establish disriminant modelfordrying methods basedon keyorganic acids,GC/MS was employed toanalyze the diferences inorganic acid content acrossseven drying methods.Partialleastsuaes-dimantaalysis(-)asedtoidntifyeydirentialoganiccis,flodbyisher discriminantanalysis toconstructadiscriminantmodel foridentifyingdrying methods.Resultsshowedas thefollows.(l)Volatile acidsintobaccoflowerstreatedwithdiferentdryingmethodswereidentifiedasbenzoicacid,phenylaceticacidand3- methylpentanoic acid (with characteristic aroma), with total content ranging from 116 to 1 8 1 μ g / g . The total content of non-volatile acids ranged from 59.7 to 7 7 . 0 m g / g ,with the sum of oxalic acid, malic acid and citric acid content accounting for approximately 9 2 . 5 % to 9 7 . 8 % of the total. The total content of higher fatty acids ranged from 22.4 to 6 5 . 2 m g / g ,with unsaturated fatty acids (oleic acid, linoleic acid, and linolenic acid) accounting for about 5 8 . 7 % to 7 6 . 6 % of the total. (2) Drying methods significantly affected organic acidcontents: airdrying achieved thehighest volatile acid content, folowed byprogrammed heating drying andsun drying, whereas freeze drying yielded the lowest.Non-volatileacidsreached peak levels during freeze drying, whereastheir minimum content were observed in constant temperature drying. The total content of higher fatty acids was the highest in freeze drying andthelowest inairdrying.(3)PLS-DAclasifiedthesevendrying metodsintofivecategories:freezedrying, programmedheating drying,constanttemperaturedrying,sundrying,andairdrying.BasedontheVIPvaluesfromthePLS-DAmodel,sevenkey diferentialoanccids, elytaricid, leiccidiccidliccidiriccid, sticcidndacid wereidentifiedascharacteristicmarkersSubsequetlyaFisherdisrimiantmodelwasestablishdforthfivecategorsoftobac flower drying methods, with classification accuracies of 9 6 . 7 % in the training set and 1 0 0 % in the test set. In summary, the organic acid profiles of tobacco flowers subjected to air drying, sun drying,or programmed heating drying (up to )exhibitgreater suitabilityfortobacoflavoringapplications.Organicacidscanserveascharacteristicchemicalcomponentsforeffectively discriminating tobacco flower resources obtained from different drying methods.
