On Shu Yuexiang's Reception of Tao Yuanming and Its Poetic Significance

Abstract:Shu YuexiangwasanimportantpoetoftheSoutherSongDynasty.HisreceptionofTaoYuanmingcanbedividedinto two phases，demarcatedbythetenthyearftheXianchunera（274)．Intheearlyphase,hisreceptionprimarilyfocusedonthecontent ofTao'spoetr，manifestinginthecompositionofpastoralandlandscapepoetryandthedevelopmentofaplainandnaturalstyle.In thelaterphase,havingenduredtheanguishofdynasticcolapse,hisreceptionshiftedtowardTaoYuanmingsmoralspiritof"not servingaforeigndyasty,encompasingbothaniheritanceofTao'sethosofontenmentinovertyandadmirationforisidentity asayimin（remnantsubjectofafallendynasty).Furthermore,ShuYuexiang'sreceptionofTao'spoetryholdssignificantpoetic implicationsfrst,ititensifdteelncolictoneinsoersecodmboednteicofubletyndau， contributingsubstantialltorectifying theoverlyomateandinsubstantialliterarytendenciesofthelateSongDynasty.
