Abstract;XiaoTong evaluatedthepersonalityandexistentialstateof Taoandotherreclusesthrough conceptssuchasDao（the Way）andrenfang（unrestrainedfreedom）．Hiscritiquereflectstheperspectiveofacrowprinceaessingscholarsandadmiring virtuousfigures，whilealsorevealingteinfluenceofTo'slifechices，oeticvision，andplosophcaltoughtonXiaoongXiao 'sevaluationofTaodemonstratesacriticalapproachthateuallsteemsothtemanandhisliteraryoksHenotonlypaiseTao 's writingsassupreme butalso highlyvalued Tao'smoral exemplarity.This tendency isevident intheinclusionof Tao′s poetry and proseinWenuan（SelectionsofRefinedLiterature），aswellasinXiaoscompilationofTdsClectedWorks，hisuthorspof BiographyofTaoYuanming，ndhisPrefacetoTaoYuanmingsColection.XiaoTong'spoemTMyYoungerBrotherinXuzhoubears theclearinfluenceofTao'spoeticstyle.Sinceitscompositionpredatesthe"WaxGoseIncident"andconsideringXiao'spersonal affinitywithTao'stemperamentandideals，the"avoidanceofmisfortune”theoryprovesinadequateinexplainingXiaoTong's reception of Tao Yuanming.
