Impact of Digital Transformation on the Performance of Pharmaceutical and Biological Enterprises

Abstract:Against the swift evolution of the digital economy， pharmaceutical and biological enterprises are actively striving for digital transformation. Utilizing the annual reports of Chinese pharmaceutical and biological enterprises for the years 2Ol3 to 2022 as a research sample,this study established a digital transformation measurement index for these enterprises using Python and text mining techniques. The objective is to investigate the impact of digital transformation on the performance of pharmaceutical and biological enterprises.The findings indicate that the implementation of digital transformation strategies positively correlates with enhanced enterprise performance.Furthermore，the study reveals that the first type of agency cost within enterprises exerts a negative moderating efect， suggesting that a higher level of agency cost tends to attenuate the positive impact of digital transformation on enterprise performance. Through heterogeneity testing，it is found that the effect of digital transformation of state一owned pharmaceutical and biological enterprises and pharmaceutical and biological enterprises in the eastern region on enterprise performance is more significant. Mechanism tests show that digital transformation mainly improves enterprise performance by allviating financing constraints. Based on this，relevant suggestions are put forward from the aspects of improving digital transformation policies，strengthening digital transformation awareness， optimizing corporate governance structures，and carrying out infrastructure co-construction and sharing.
